There was an episode of My Fair Wedding where all the flowers were submerged like this for the centerpieces and they were beautiful. I love this experiment. It came out beautifully and all of the different sized vases on this table look awesome together. Wonderfully done.

Becoming a blogger was a SMART decision...

...because you meet the most wonderful people!!! Have you guys met Maggie? She's been here before and I don't know if you got a chance to stop by her amazing blog, but Maggie of Midwestern Sewing Girl totally rocks uncontrollably!!

So here's the story.
Maggie and I met awhile back when we were both contestants in American Crafter. Since then, I have guest posted on her blog and she has taken part in the holiday party on mine and she has overall just been an awesome friend and super cool blogger.

About two weeks ago, I was visiting Midwestern Sewing Girl and saw Maggie's Smartie Valentines and I was in love because, for those who don't know, I am a Smartie addict. Ok, so if we have to get technical, I am a sugar addict. Like, a hardcore sugar addict and my sugar of choice is candy. NO not chocolate. I like the occasional piece of chocolate but candy is my weakness. Smarties, Sprees, Sour Patch Kids, Gobstoppers... the whole shebang!!

I digress...

So when I mentioned my addiction to the lovely Maggie, she informed me that she was hosting a Smarties giveaway on her blog the following Monday.

...and she was giving away types of Smarties I didn't even know existed!! Oh yeah!!! I was heading back on Monday and I was taking home the prize!! Except...

...life took over and I completely forgot!!! BLAST IT ALL TO H-E-Double Hockey Sticks. By the time I made it to the blog on Friday, the giveaway had ended. I contacted Maggie in a s~~heer panic~~ calm manner and let her know I couldn't believe I missed the giveaway, with no other thought in mind than to share my disbelief at my absent mindedness about something I loved so much ...and do you know what this lovely lady did?! She told me she was sending me some from her personal stash!!!

...and she did!!!

Imagine my excitement when I returned home today after a long (and actually pretty tough) week and saw this...

Seriously, though. This is the most awesome thing about blogging! Not free candy. The fact that I have "met" some of the most wonderful, creative, sweet, fun people. When going into this blogging venture, I figured I would be sharing some of myself with others but I didn't even realize that it also meant learning so much about others and coming in contact with so many wonderful people.

I wanted one so bad for the longest time, so imagine my surprise almost 5 years ago when my love surprised me with a little doxi all my own!!

This is my Roxi Moon!!

Baby Roxi... my mini dapple doxi girl!!

She is the perfect cuddle pup and my sweet little fur baby!!

Dachshund Facts:

1. Dachshund were bread to hunt badgers and burrowing animals. In fact, the name dachshund is German for "badger dog".

2. They can be quite stubborn.

3. They are very playful and like to chase small animals (hence the torture of my cats :-\ )

4. They have a very loud almost shrill bark (seriously goes right through you)

5. They are very loyal!

Our Valentine's Day

We had a perfectly lovely Valentine's day.

Zee woke to her Valentine's treats awaiting her on her bed :)

Then I sent her off to a fun-filled day at school, complete with Valentine's party. I sent her with these Valentine themed treats...

Looks simple enough, right? Wrong! Cutting these things out were a pain ...and turns out she doesn't even like canteloupe. Told me, "Mummy, it's too 'fweet'". She says a lot of her "s" words this way. Like, "I wanna go to the park and get on the fwing" ...yeah. Adorable.

This was DELICIOUS. I brought some leftovers to work and it was a hit! Popcorn and white chocolate. Yes, please! The M&M's weren't my fav (I'm a peanut or almond M&M girl, myself ...a.k.a. addicted to them!!) but other than that it was super yummy and the colorful heart sprinkles made it extra pretty.

Zee gave out her Vday cards to all her friends too! We tried something new this year. I've seen these all over the internet and I love them, so we gave it a go. She was less than cooperative the day we took the pics but, overall, I like the outcome. I used this one with her crinkly nose because it was unique and true to her goofball personality.

All in all, it was a really great Valentine's Day!!

Candy Heart and Paper Flowers Revisited

I wrote about candy hearts and paper flowers once when I first started blogging, but this year, I am officially making yet another new tradition. As kids, we used to watch a movie called Raggedy Ann and Andy: A Musical Adventure. I don't know if any of you remember it but it was definitely one of my favorites. One of the songs in the movie was Called Candy Hearts and Paper Flowers and some of the lyrics went:

Candy hearts and paper flowers

Sunshine days when skies are blue.

Rhymes and songs we sing for hours.

Words to say I love you true.

Times get bad and then I worry,

how I'll ever see it through.

But candy hearts and paper flowers,

will always keep me close to you.

I always loved that song and me and my mom used to sing it together. So this year, I am giving candy hearts and paper flowers to Zee and making it a tradition and a show of love. I've seen some great inspiration on Pinterest and here is what I came up with:

I used a flower tutorial from Whimsical World of Laura Bird and changed it up a little. I filled my jar with candy hearts and embellished my mason jar with lace and a paper heart.

I saw some paper flowers on Pinterest that used Pixy Sticks as stems and thought that would be perfect as my daughter loooves Pixy Sticks.

...and voila!

Candy Hearts and Paper Flowers! ...she told me they were the most beautiful flowers she had ever seen :)

Strawberry Milkshakes and Pretty Pink Toes

Since Valentine's Day falls on a Tuesday, we decided to start some of our Valentine's festivities today. On weekdays, we wake up just in time to get dressed and get in a quick cereal breakfast and we get home a little too late to really do much, so I spent today giving my little one Valentine's treats. She'll still get some little things on the big day but we had a mommy/daughter day today.

We started out with a yummy Valentine's breakfast. Today we had heart pancakes w/ homemade strawberry milkshakes that we made together.

Everything was very simple. I just mixed up some instant pancake batter and used red food coloring to make some of them pink and then I cut the hearts in them and mixed 'em up. I saw a photo, on Pinterest where someone had done this and I thought it was extra cute!

For our strawberry milkshakes, I just sliced up strawberries and let them soak in sugar and vanilla for an hour. I then blended them together with milk and strawberry ice cream until smooth and poured them into small mason jars. I embellished my mason jars with paper hearts, Valentine ribbon and stripey straws ;)

Next stop, the spa! We got mommy/daughter mani's and pedi's. It was Zee's first time and she loved it!! They made little flowers on her fingers and toes and she felt like a big girl sitting in the pedicure chair. We had a great time and she was really excited :)

All in all, we had a super fun, love-filled time and I'm looking forward to even more on the actual day ;)

Today is an anniversary of sorts. Well, actually it is an anniversary. Today is the day that I started writing this blog, one year ago! When I started writing this blog though, it was under another name Photographer ...Naturally and was originally meant to share my journey into photography and natural hair. The blog since then took on a feel of it's own and so on September 18th 2011, I decided to change the name of the blog to Everything Under the Moon and encompass all of the things that I love. So I would really consider September 18th my bloggiversary because that is the day Everything Under the Moon was really born and took on the life it has now BUT today is still a milestone because it is the day that blogging became a very real part of my life!!

My first post:

In the beginning...

…and so I become. Beginning on this journey to photography genius :) Along the way, I'm getting crafty. I'm getting artsy. I'm creating. I'm cooking. I'm shooting …and most importantly, I'm learning. Lover and wearer of natural hair, there is beauty in our creation and there is beauty in the art of life. I am shooting it and I am living it.

In the last year I really have gotten artsy and crafty. I've created and cooked and shot lots of photos and I have definitely learned!! I have even had the chance to talk about my adventures in motherhood with you guys and share my little girl with all of you and learn about all of your adventures as well which is an added plus! There have been some breaks in between and there have been LOTS of changes but I have enjoyed each and every moment writing Photographer ...Naturally and Everything Under the Moon and have been blessed to "meet" so many great bloggers/friends along the way.

I am going to try this again, lol. I always #FAIL at these!! I mean, I was pretty faithful to my 365 until I decided I just didn't want to do it anymore but I am so bad at working in a picture everyday. But this one just looks like just so much fun...

To make it easier, I am gonna to do a compilation of photos from my Canon and from my camera phone so that I can MAKE SURE to catch a photo!!

I love pickles!! I have always loved them, to the point where I drink cups of pickle juice. Yes, it's that serious. When I was pregnant with Zee, I was nauseous every single day for three months and pickles were the perfect curve to my nausea in all their beautiful saltiness.

I like many kinds of pickles. Sour dill pickles are bestest but the peppery, spicy one's are great too! Sometimes at Shaw's (a grocery store in the Boston area) they have the old barrels filled with pickles. I got one from their when I was preggers and it was sooo spicy that my nose was running and my eyes were watering. I loved every minute of it!!

My mom's favorite pickles are bread and butter pickles. They're kinda sweet and not at the top of my list but I do eat 'em. I even eat the pickles that are almost still just cucumbers but with a slight flavor. My absolute favorite pickles right now are made right here in the Boston area. Grillo's Pickles! You guys, seriously, YUMMO!! The hot one's are out of this world!! Coming in at $6.99 a jar, they're a little bit more than your average pickle, but well worth it!

I think homemade pickles are somewhere in my very near future.

Oh... and can you say pickles in a pouch?!!! Yes, por favor!

I have recently had the great pleasure of being introduced to My Memories Scrapbook Software. It is a really awesome scrapbooking software that has endless amounts of neato things you can do!! I have always wanted to get into scrapbooking and I envy all of you scrap happy ladies out there and some of the AMAZING things I have seen you do. I am BY FAR an amateur, but that is why this software is awesome. It's simple for beginner and pro alike. Being that this is all new to me, I jumped write into the pre-made templates and came up with these:

It was so simple and fun, and bloggers, you can even use the software to make items for your blog! I tried it out by making a super quick and easy new button.

I remember the first camera I owned. It was a kodak camera like this, with drop in film that had a canister on each end. I was about nine and most of mine and my sisters pictures were of the floor and walls, super extra close pictures of people's faces, or great pictures with our thumbs blocking it. We did get a couple of good shots but I distinctly remember a lot of thumbs.

And this camera was the one my mom had when we were kids. This is what she used to take the hundreds and hundreds of baby and childhod pictures that she took of us. I think part of my love for photography came from my mom and her need to capture every
moment of our existence.

Those cameras hold fond memories but the cameras that catch my eye are older still.

The flex cameras steal my heart! At an antique store this summer there was one sitting there just waiting to be bought but it wasn't in good shape and wasnt opening right. If it had been, I promise you, it would have been owned!

Today is my mother's birthday. This woman. This amazing woman.

My mother has always been a pillar of strength and courage. When I was six years old my father passed away suddenly and my mother managed to hold everything together. She kept me and my sister in private school and gave us the best of everything and even she was struggling, I never knew it. How she did it, I will never understand. 'Til this day she amazes me.

My mother has taught me how to be independent, be strong, be self sufficient, and courageous. She has shown me how to be a good person and to treat people right, not only through her words but from her example. She has taught me how to love, fully and completely. She has taught me self-sacrifice and how to truly give part of yourself to others and be able to be fulfilled by their happiness. Love pours off of my mother. Sometimes I believe there is not a truly mean bone in her body.

My mother, she means the world to me. The lessons in life she has taught me will benefit me endlessly. She raised me and my sisters with morals and a clear cut definition of right and wrong. She is always there for me and she is the greatest Nana that any girl could ever ask for. Zee completely adores her.

Her undying faith in the Lord is inspiring and her search for the good in all people is a rare and desirable quality.

I love my mother. I love my mother to the ends of the earth and back. Inside and out, she is beauty and she is elegance. She is my Mummy and she is my world.

Comfort Foods: The Green Muenster

It's frickin freezing Mr. Bigglesworth!!! Wind chill of -3 degrees today. It's one of those days when you just want to stay inside, keep warm, watch movies, and eat your favorite comfort foods. One of mine is grilled cheese. Last summer I headed over to SOWA, a craft fair/farmer's market/antique shop in Boston. One of the vendors there was Roxy's Gourmet Grilled Cheese and they made all of these delicious grilled cheese combinations. One of them was the Green Muenster. Muenster cheese, guacamole, and applewood bacon. YUMMO!! It had been some time since I had eaten the sandwich but the memory of it was just so delicious that I decided to make my own version!

I got my bacon cooking and then I started out by making my guacamole. I used my favorite guacamole recipe from Chipotle.

I sliced up my avocados and mashed them up a little.

Then I added all the other ingredients and mashed to consistency.

Salt slightly under what you would usually do and this why... Here is where I added my little something extra. I had recently gone to a restaurant and had guacamole with FETA in it. Yes, feta! It is delicious, believe me. So when making my guacamole for this sandwich I added a bit of feta. I mixed some in and then sprinkled some on top for a little extra yumminess.

Once my guac was done and bacon was cooked it was time to build the sandwich! I used sliced Italian bread because I am not a big fan of sourdough, but if you are, that's a good one to use too. I spread guacamole on each slice of bread.

Then add three slices of muenster cheese (or more for extra cheesiness), bacon, and tomatoes.

Slather each side with butter (I said it was yummy, not healthy) and throw it on the skillet. I covered mine for a couple of seconds to get the cheese all hot and melty. Grill it until it's perfectly brown and enjoy, enjoy enjoy!! Pair it with your favorite soup for a perfectly cozy comforting meal!!

Giraffe Grins

I want to talk to you guys about this awesome organization that I am a part of called Giraffe Grins! Giraffe Grins is a charity organization that's mission is to brighten up the lives of children in hospitals around the nation by brightening up their rooms! Giraffe Grins makes and donates brightly colored pillowcases to hospitals to help bring up the spirits of children. The idea is that by giving the environment a more happy feel, we can in essence bring a small bit of happiness and hope to a child.

Where have I been?

Once again I have been MIA for a week and I apologize. I spent almost the whole week at home taking care of a sick munchkin. Zee had a fever that would not break. We have had a week full of sleepless nights, sleeping on the floor, sleeping sitting up ...and I am exhausted!! Today was our first fever free, normal day since last Saturday. Thank God!!

I'd like to say I got some things done during this time but that would be a lie. I spent most of my time attending to her but I did get to rock her to sleep numerous times which she NEVER lets me do anymore and I enjoyed every minute of that part.

So tonight we're hoping for restful sleep since I return to work in the a.m.and she returns to school but I doubt that. Her nose is still stuffy and she has a pretty bad cough leftover so she may be up off and on crying like she has the last few nights but I'm praying she, well we, get the rest we need. Her energy is up and she's herself all day so I hope tomorrow is good for her.

All this to say, sorry for my absence but I will have new posts this week and, of course, our linky party will go live tonight!

I've been kind of MIA this last week. Been taking the holidays to spend some quality time with my family but I'm back. I hope you guys had a great Christmas. Ours was wonderful!! We just relaxed and had fun together as a family, and laughed, and Zee played with all her new toys ...and I got a new sewing machine!! You know what that means. New projects to share with all of you :) Overall it was a great day and a great long weekend.

Now, tomorrow is the beginning of the new year and even though it's just the next day, I always like the idea of starting fresh ...a new beginning. I've never been really big on making new year's resolution, simply because I am not that great at sticking to them, but I figured this year, what the heck. Might as well write down a few things I would like to stick to and at least give it a try. If I don't stick to them, no harm done, but if I do, I will have made some accomplishments. I always think back to the quote, "A year from now you will have wished you started today." It kind of motivates me not to procrastinate. So here are my resolutions for 2012 for me personally and for Everything Under the Moon.

Me:

1. Get Organized - I am usually a big ball of chaos but being a Virgo (if one believes in that sort of thing) I operate far better in organized space. I feel like an entirely different person when I have all of my ducks in a row. So this year, I am going to strive to keep some kind of organization in my home, my job, and my life.

2. Control my road rage - It's bad guys. I get like REALLY angry and spout all times of horrible words at the people on the road who shouldn't be. As a matter of fact, this resolution should be, control the potty mouth and be nicer. My potty mouth isn't horrible but it would feel better if it were more ...non-existent. So yeah, control the rage and the potty mouth and just have more patience overall.

3. Stick to Weight Watchers - I've kind of been slipping recently so I want to stick to that more hardcore and try to fit in more exercise. I want to be more mobile in general, more active. Hard when you're in front of a computer half your life (on the computer at work ALL DAY), but I'm definitely going to try.

4. Get closer to God - This is an every day goal for me that I always feel like I am failing at. I need to find some way to make my relationship with God stronger so this is a MAJOR one for me. Whether I go to church more regularly or study my Bible more, I need to do something to strengthen that relationship and feel closer to God.

5. Be less selfish - I'm not so much selfish in that I only think of myself but more in that I don't think of others enough that I'm satisfied in being the best person I can be to others. My mom does so much for me and I feel like I need to do more for her. Just want to do more for the people I love.

I think those are my five major goals for myself for 2012. Really just self-motivating and getting things done and becoming the person I want to be.

Everything Under the Moon:

1. Make the blog a better reflection of me - I'm not always happy with this blog because I want it to better reflect me as a person and all of things I love to do. I tend to be very eclectic and I do a little bit of everything, so it's hard sometimes to have that come across in my blog. But I think I found the perfect new blog designer to help me represent myself visually and I think the new look will really help in making this blog more of what I want it to be.

2. More varied content - I want to have more variety on my blog. Sometimes I think Im so concerned with the organization of the blog I hold back in posting all the different kinds of things I could be sharing. I want to have more photography one here, more natural hair posts, more food, and more writing. More me just sharing with you. I dont want to worry so much about the number of my followers but more about the content that Im sending out to those who already follow.

I have many more things I would like to work on in the new year that involve my family, etc. but I think those are my major resolution for 2012 as far as bettering myself and this blog. Do any of you have any resolutions for the the new year? Is there anything you want to see 2012 bring you? Another exciting year, you guys. Let's get everything we can out of it!!

Holiday Special Spectacular

Watching Christmas television is probably one of my favorite parts of the holiday seasons. I can't wait for my favorite Christmas programs to start. 25 Days of Christmas on ABC Family is definitely a guilty pleasure for me. I love introducing Zaiah to all the classic Christmas shows. Family Christmas movie time is definitely a favorite pastime for us.

Here is a lineup of some of our holiday favorites...

"I'm Mr White Christmas, Im Mr Snow. Im Mr Icicle, Im Mr 10 below..." This is the ultimate! One of my absolute favorites of all time. I love all the songs and the really bad animation of all of these special Christmas classics. Who doesnt love Snow and Heat Miser? ...and how catchy are those songs? Super fav!

My sister and I were unnaturally excited when this DVD came in the mail the other day. We LOVE the camels singing We Three Kings. As a matter of fact, it's the only version I usually sing of the song. The bells hitting themselves in the head with the one daffy one that can't get it right still cracks us up and of course, who doesn't love the California Raisins? Zee was in love with their rendition of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. I mean, it's The Temptations!

"You hope and I'll hurry. You pray and I'll plan. We'll do what's necessary 'cause, even a miracle needs a hand." Such a great song!! This cartoon is a classic redone classically! We do not go a Christmas season without watching this one.

This is not a well known movie but it is without doubt a classic. My sister and I watched this all the time as kids. Good songs, good story. It is never played on tv, or at least we havent seen it, but we own it and break it out every year at this time. If you havent seen this one, definitely put it on your Christmas list ;)

Aww... :( "Ears Nestor". This story always makes me sad but I love the way it tells the story of Christmas and the birth of Jesus. It is one of the only Christmas classics that comes on each year for the kids and relates to the true meaning of Christmas without involving some sort of Santa story. Definitely a much watch each year.

First of all, I love A Christmas Carol. A must read! I've seen so many versions of this story and I never get tired of it. This is one of my favorite versions. It tells the classic story while still appealing to people of all ages. The Muppets have a way of making this story fun for kids and Michael Caine is one of my all time favorites. This movies gets a huge, YES PLEASE!

Everyone has their #1 Christmas movie that they HAVE TO watch every year, and this is mine. How thrilled am I that my daughter loves it just as much (if not more) than I do! She makes me watch it all year long and since it's my quintessential holiday movie, I only let her watch Santa Clause 2 and 3 throughout the year. That way she gets her fill and I dont get tired of one of my favorite holiday pleasures.

There are also these two are Mummy and Daddy's favorites. Miss Zee is too young to have discovered these but you can't miss these each year.

...and finally, there is no way on Earth that I could leave out The Grinch!! Absolute holiday classic. I think I know every single line. I love both versions!! The cartoon and the movie. Whichever. Perfectly happy either way. One of the best told stories and Dr. Seuss is the ultimate! I love this to no end.

The True Meaning of Christmas

Christmas is coming! Christmas is coming! I feel like shouting it from the rooftops and screaming like the crazy “Target lady” in the commercials, “It’s here! It’s here!” Christmas is my favorite time of year. Of course, I love the cookies, gingerbread houses, the movies, the garland, the decorations, the trees and the festive music. I’m extremely excited this year because this is my first Christmas as a Mommy. Although my little one is only 8 months old, I can’t wait to make Christmas cookies with him, decorate our house and watch him open presents. It’s going to be a high time in the Jones house this year.

However, with all of these great festivities going on, it can be easy to forget what Christmas is really about. If you don’t believe me, just Google “Black Friday Walmart fights” and see how many people fought as if their lives depended on it for $1.88 towels and $2 waffle irons. I know times are hard, but come on. Is this what Christmas is about? Getting the best deal or buying things that we really don’t need?

I’m so glad that one of my favorite cartoons takes time out to tell children what Christmas is really about—the birth of Jesus Christ.

My favorite verse in the Christmas story is Luke 2:14 (NKJV), “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” What does that mean? It means that in a world filled with evil, turmoil and unrest, you can have peace in Jesus Christ. It means that in Christ, God will extend his favor to you or “Goodwill towards men.” I don’t know about you, but that gives me peace when I think about my future and the future of my son.

This week while we were driving home, a car lost control coming in the opposite direction and swerved towards us. My husband stopped and we could do nothing but pray. The car stopped two or three feet from hitting us head on. My husband, my baby and I could all be dead or seriously injured, but God! The situation frightened me, but it strengthened my faith and peace in Christ. Come what may, we are in God’s hands! That’s what Christmas is about—remembering what God did and continues to do for us.

I know that there are a lot of exciting things going on this season, but let’s not forget the true meaning of Christmas and share it with our loved ones. Getting a good deal is fun, but at the end of the day, a towel is not going to do anything to enhance your joy or peace.

12 Days of Christmas - Snowflake Lanterns

Now to the lanterns...

I wanted something wintery to light up my home and accentuate some of my Christmas decor. I had seen a few lanterns done with lace that I loved but I wanted to give something a little bit different a try. That's when I came up with this.

First I went to Michael's in search of a perfect snowflake stencil and I came across this snowflake scrapbook paper. Perfect!!

I taped it around the jar to get it to hold and then...

...out to the yard to spray paint in the cold!

...and Tada!

So SUPER simple! ...and pretty :)

They glow beautifully and after lighting them a few times, the stencil actually got even more pronounced.

12 Days of Christmas - Book Page Tree

Hello everyone, I'm Sherika over at Passionately Perfect! I'm so excited to be sharing with you today for the 12 days of Christmas holiday party! This year I challenged myself to spend less money on Christmas decor, So I'll be showing you Christmas trees made out of books....it doesn't get any cheaper than that!

While my mom was visitng for Thanksgiving, she showed me how she use to make Christmas trees out of paper! Her and her brothers did this because back then spending money on Christmas decor was unheard of!

For this project you can use a paperback book or a magazine. I used both.

Start by folding the pages.

First, fold the top right corner toward the spine to form a right angled triangle.

Next, fold the remaining half toward the spine as well!

Then, cut off the bottom pieces of the book so that it will be able to stand up alone.

A little time consuming, but very easy!

Some gold spray paint, a star and ribbon and here ya go!!

Hello Everything Under the Moon Friends and Fans!!!

It is so so nice to meet you and to get to spend the day with you!

I am so honored to be a part of this wonderful Christmas blog event!

My name is Jaime and I am the voice behind a crafty blog called

Crafty Scrappy Happy.

And my blog is about all things Crafty, DIY, Up-cycled and Decor related.

I am so excited to share my sweet and simple Christmas craft with you today!

It was simple to make all you need is:

-shipping tags

-vintage printing press letters

-a versa mark ink pad

-embossing powder

-a normal ink pad

-a heating tool

-ribbon

-a frame

-background scrapbook paper

-annnnnnd a typewriter (if you have one)

All I did was stamp the JOY with normal ink followed by the clear versa mark ink.

Then sprinkle on embossing powder and heat it with the embossing tool until you have a nice shiny sheen to your letters!

I then added "joy to the world" under the JOY big letters with my typewriter---just because anything I make with my typewriter makes me super happy.

Then I just added ribbon, to the tags and just stuck the tags to the glass of the frame with glue dots!

Sweet and simple----

I think that is what holiday decor is all about!

We are packing and packing and packing! I am so excited! We will go to Montreal for a week and then fly at the beginning of next month! You will see a lot of travel photos soon! I also thought, I would take you with me on our house/apartment hunt!

In the meantime, I made an easy peasy Christmas Garland! (I should really be packing, lol)

Just run the needle through the styrofoam balls and cut little strips out of masking tape. Glue the tape onto the thread with the styrofoam balls and that's all.

Hi, this is Briana from Babblings and More! I am so excited to be a part of the 12 Days of Christmas Holiday Party! I am one of four sisters (Briana, Brittany, Bridget and Brooke) that have fun doing crafts, cooking goodies and sometimes just being silly over on our blog. We love Everything Under the Moon and all of the creative things that Nikki comes up with!

My boys recently found this wreath in our Christmas boxes. I completely forgot that I had it! It looked worn and lifeless. It needed help!

So I picked up a few berry bushes from Hobby Lobby and found some ribbon that I picked up on clearance last year. I "fluffed" up the greenery and transformed it into this:

I debated on whether to add the ribbon because I really liked the wreath with just the pine cones and berries. So I just wrapped the ribbon around the wreath and if I want to take it off later, I could! I like changing things up every once in awhile, but for now I love the way it looks!

12 Days of Christmas - Holiday Apothecary Jars

Hi everyone! And a big thanks to Nikki for having me today. I am Kelli from The Turquoise Piano. I'm a full time wife and mommy with a part time obsession with home staging, real estate searching, DIY-ing, and blogging. I started my blog for a place to post all the projects that were inundating my family blog.

Today I want to share how to make your very own apothecary jars for under $10. These are awesome for any season because you can pick one color for the base and lid, then fill the jars with candies to suit the season.

Step #1: a trip to the thrift store where I bought three mason jars and three different sized vases for a total of $3.75.

Step #2: wash those suckers. I used the dishwasher, but you could hand wash them if you want to deal with it.

Step #3: spray paint the vases.

Step #4: glue the mason jar lids to the rims, and then glue the knobs (that I got on clearance at Ikea) to the lids. I used super glue for this step.

Step #5: spray paint the lids the same color as the vases.

Step #6: Gorilla Glue the mason jars to the top of the vases. This glue works like a charm!

Finally, for step #7 I filled the jars with candy and screwed the lids on.

12 Days of Christmas - Felt Circle Christmas Tree

I'm Michelle from Our Wonderfilled Life, and
it's a great morning to be here at Nikki's gorgeous blog!!
When I am not wrangling my five little men,
I like to make our little corner of the world a little
more merry and bright especially during the holidays!!

I have a super simple and colorful project to share with you today.
First I have to share a little story behind the inspiration.

Every year we get bundled up from head to toe and

LOVE going to our local Christmas walk.

It draws a HUGE crowd, in the thousands.

They have a Live Nativity, candy cane pull, carriage rides, so many fun activities.
The most magical part of the night is the lighting
of the 50 ft. Christmas tree!!
{Try fitting that one in your living room!}

While I am usually a white twinkly lights kind of gal,

I adore how colorful this tree is.
{Clark Griswold eat your heart out!}

All of the colors inspired me to make
this pretty little felt tree...

If we put it in Vegas alongside the Eiffel Tower and Statue of Liberty,

well it just might be to scale!

I am giving this one to my niece

along with a giftcard to Charming Charlies.

{an accessory shop full of visual eye candy!}
So, the two will go together perfectly!

To make one of your own you will need:

assorted colors of felt

floral cone {mine was 6 inches tall}

colorful sewing pins

an object to use as a circle template

scissors

pencil or marker

1. Gather supplies.

2. Trace circle onto felt using template.

3. Template used here is about 1.5 inches.

4. Cut out circles

{I used 39 and folded felt

over to cut more than one at a time}

5. Pin circles onto tree, overlapping circles

as shown and centering pin.

6. Continue wrapping circles around.

7. And some more, use a pattern to ensure all colors

are being used.

8. Flatten circles and make sure all pins are secure.

9. Enjoy your merry-n-bright tree!!

This adorable tree would be a great teacher gift,
{with an attached giftcard}.

You could also make an assortment of solid color trees

and place them along a mantel, on a child's shelves,

so many different options and so so simple and budget-friendly!

12 Days of Christmas - Snow Glitter Ornaments

Time to break out the Mod Podge again!!

For these simple ornaments all you need are plain ornaments, scrapbook paper, mod podge and glitter!! I use the white snow glitter because it's my favorite this time of year. It adds just the right amount of sparkle.

Start out by cutting your scrapbook paper into short strips. Then put a good layer of Mod Podge on the back of the strips and start decoupaging.

Once you have completed covered your ornament, put another thin coat of Mod Podge over the top op the ornament. While wet sprinkle on your glitter in a thin even coat.

I made some little bows and hot glued them to the top for a little extra embellishment. Another good idea would be to add holiday words (e.g. Noel).

Tie a ribbon to the top for hanging and you're done! A pretty decoupaged snow glitter ornament to add to your tree :)

Ribbon Tree Ornament

Cost: $0.50 or less

This tree is rather easy and doesn't require the more expensive foam cone to make it!! Here are the basic steps to making this Ribbon Tree Ornament: (1) Gather Supplies, (2) Make & Paint the Cone, (3) Cut & Add the Ribbon Strips, (4) Add the Star, (5) Prep the Trunk & Base, (6) Add the Trunk to the Cone, and you're Finished!!

Paper & Lace Snowflake Ornament

Cost: $0.75 or less

This Paper & Lace Snowflake Ornament is one of my favorite ornaments I've made so far this year!! This post included links to suppliers for high quality, yet extremely inexpensive lace and ephemera!! There are even mini tutorials for making the lace "flower" and the sheet music cones used in this project!!

Layered Disc Ornament

Cost: $1 or less

The parts that make up this Layered Disc Ornament can be used to make so many different variations of the same ornament!! The layers that make up this particular ornament are (1) burlap on cardstock, (2) a accordion folded book page disc, and (3) a fake flower on cardstock with a plastic gem in the very center. That's it!! Super simple!!

Mossy Wooden Word Ornaments

Cost: $0.50 or less

These are my other favorite ornaments that I've made this year and again they're really inexpensive!! You can use craft sticks for the back to drop the cost of these Mossy Wooden Word Ornaments even lower!! The wooden letters can be purchased at Wal-Mart for under $2.50 and the moss is only $1 per roll at Dollar Tree.

Easy Ribbon Ornaments

Cost: $0.10 or less

Yep, only 10 cents or less to make these Easy Ribbon Ornaments!! The only supplies required for this project are printed ribbon, craft sticks, glue and hemp/jute cord!! These truly are easy... and cheap too!!

12 Days of Christmas - Glitter Ornaments

Jumping into the ornament section our party, welcome Kelley with her bright and beautiful glitter ornaments!!

Sometimes I feel like I live under a rock. Take for example the glitter ornaments floating around blogland.. who knew that Pledge floor care could make beautiful Christmas decorations?! I sure didnt.. but I was excited to try them. They are very easy to do and would make a great personalized gift for anyone. Best of all.. each ornament is under $2!

You need:

Pledge floor care (with the blue tip)

Clear glass Christmas ornaments

Glitter

Container to empty excess pledge

Take off the metal topper. Pour the pledge into the ornament. Swirl it around and make sure you cover the entire inside. Remove the excess into a cup or container.

Pour your glitter into the ornament. I used a folder piece of paper as a funnel. Shake it until the ornament is covered. Add more if needed. Pour out the excess onto your paper funnel. You can stop here or decorate the front like I did.

I took a small paintbrush and dipped it into some modge podge. Once I had the design I wanted I sprinkled it with red glitter. I let it set and then brushed off the extra glitter and sealed it with another layer of modge podge.

Let dry and then package as a gift or hang on your tree! I love how these turned out! I made some for my in-laws and my nephew plus a few for our tree ;)

A breakdown of the cost:

Pledge floor care - $5

Ornaments - $3 (half off!)

Glitter - $1.5

Divide that by 6 ornaments - about $1.50 each!!

I am so excited to be celebrating this
great season here at Everything Under the Moon.

Nikki is so nice to host this… so let’s get to it!

This is me after a normal day... gobbling down some cookies. Typical.

A little background: growing up my family
didn’t really have any traditions.

I mean… of course we put up a Christmas
tree at home

and for a short while my mom displayed a
nativity scene.

Other than that Christmas was just a time
to shop and have parties.

I was always bummed out about that.

Before my husband and I married in 2009

we agreed that we both wished to foster a tradition-rich
home when we had a family.

Well, our little guy was born in 2010

and while we tried to do a few special things
for the holidays,

the newness of our life as parents was just too
much

and I couldn’t handle introducing or enforcing any family traditions.

So – long story short – this year has
been THE year.

I’ve been working hard to lead us in
reflecting on “the reason for the season.”

By doing simple things... I still can’t handle major
undertakings.

Like baking tons of cookies and listening to Christmas music.

I was inspired by Tracie at TSJ Photography

and decided we would celebrate the Christmas season

by delivering bags of cookies to our friends and family.

I printed out some cards explaining why they are randomly receiving a batch of cookies.

Tape them on the box or bag… and that’s it!

It's a simple thing to do but it brightens up people's days.

So what’s the point of me telling you all this?

Well, whether we share the same beliefs about Christmas or not,

I just hope to encourage you to do "something" with your family

Something memorable. Something special.

Because tradition is important.

Tradition is stability and security. Tradition binds families together.

Tradition is how you will survive beyond your years.

This is our first year starting our own family traditions

but I hope my son will remember the things we do as a family.

Perhaps my grandchildren will also be spending Christmas baking cookies

and my son will tell them about the years we spent doing the same thing when he was little.

Whether it's visiting a soup kitchen (you overachiever, you!),

eating breakfast for dinner, rocking out to jingle bell rock,

giving each other gag gifts, opening gifts on the Epiphany,

celebrating Saint Nicholas Day,

or just simply baking cookies and giving them to your neighbors.

Just do something and keep doing it every year.

Do something that will go on in history...

your family history.

It's never too late - or too early - to start.

Have yourself a merry little Christmas.

12 Days of Christmas - Holiday Hair Clip

Hi, y'all! I'm Bethany from Pitter And Glink, and I'm so thrilled to be doing my first guest post!

I can't think of a better place to do that than Everything Under the Moon. I was so excited when Nikki extended the invitation. I spent a while trying to come up with the perfect Christmas craft to share. I finally decided to share the Christmas hair clip I made for my niece. The inspiration for this project came from Pinterest. Imagine that? :) I started with these supplies...

I used red and white sparkly felt, green felt, and a metal hair clip. And you probably notice those cute little reindeer buttons. Well, I didn't end up using them. I had planned on it, but I ended up using a sparkly red pom pom instead. I found the flower template while browsing Pinterest. You can get the flower template from yoonie-at-home. (Yoonie's tutorial is great, and she uses her flower to create a headband!)
Step One: Cut out the template pieces. Pin them to your felt and cut out your felt pieces.

Step Two: I wanted to add a little something to the white flower, so I stitched around the white flower petals with red thread.

Step Three: Sew all the pieces together with a few stitches in the middle.

Step Four: Add the center embellishment to cover up your stitches. I used a sparkly red pom pom. Clip a circle of felt in between your hair clip. You are going to create a sandwich with your flower on top, then the top of the hair clip, then the felt circle.

Step Five: Glue the flower to the top of the clip. (The picture below is the back view, of course.)

Step Six: Admire your beautiful Christmas hair clip!
